Toffee Brownies!

Yesterday I filed for GRADUATION! Only one class left... then I'm done with college and will have my BA in Studio Arts from CSULB! I'm so excited!!! This caused from some celebratory sweets. Brownies are by far my favorite dessert, the ooey-gooey chocolate-ness CAN'T be beat. These brownies have toffee melted in between 2 layers of brownies, and crushed toffee on top! YUMM!

  • Toffee Brownies
  • INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups SKOR toffee bars roughly chopped (I made home-made toffee instead)
  • DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Combine the melted butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each, until thoroughly blended.
  3. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually stir the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture until blended. Stir in the chocolate morsels. Spread 1/2 batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of the toffee over the batter. Put the rest of the batter on top of the toffee. And sprinkle the remaining toffee over the top of the brownies.
  4. Bake in preheated oven until an inserted toothpick comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Remove, and cool pan on wire rack for 30 minutes before cutting.

  3. Congratulations! That's a huge accomplishment! These brownies look great! Will you post (or have you already?) the toffee recipe you used? So many store-bought toffees have nuts and I'm allergic. Thanks!!!

  7. I NEED this! It's probably the best looking brownie I've ever seen! The only ingredient I need that I don't have in the house is SKOR or toffee...I think it might be worth the trip to the grocery store right now!
